Officially announced on the US market on July 8, the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp is a brand new semi-automatic pistol chambered in .380 ACP (a.k.a. 9mm Short or 9x17mm) that's part of the company's Bodyguard 2.0 line of micro-compact, concealed carry handguns introduced back in July 2024 as the successor to the original Bodyguard 380 line, launched in 2011 and phased out in 2021.

Addressing a growing demand for controllable micro-compact pistols for concealed carry and personal protection that has been stirring the US market for some time, Smith & Wesson's new Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp pistol improves rapid-fire controllability and handling of hotter, harder-recoiling ammunition such as dedicated defensive .380 Acp whose recoil level can be surprisingly higher to the generally low standards for the caliber.

Additionally, the Carry Comp technology provides an advantage to those who use micro-compact pistols for BUG (Back-Up Gun match) shooting and other practical or defensive shooting disciplines normally practiced with small-sized handguns.

Largely based more on Smith & Wesson's M&P and M&P 2.0 pistols series than on the legacy Bodyguard 380, the new Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp features a light double action striker-fired trigger with several automatic safety features and a "Glock-style" trigger safety. Optionally, an ambidextrous manual safety is also available.

The reinforced polymer frame of the new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp pistol is available in black or Blue Titanium color variants, and features redesigned ergonomics as well as a slip-proof pattern on the front and back straps of the vertical grip and on several indexing points to the sides for a firm gripping in all conditions.

Unlike many modern micro-compact pistols, the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp pistol doesn't feature a Picatinny rail for accessories on the dust cover, and controls – the magazine release catch, slide stop lever and disassembly lever – are located only on the left side of the frame.

The slide of the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp pistol is machined out of stainless steel and comes only in matte black, with a full Armornite finish that's very resistant to wear, scratches, oxidation, and elements.

Other features include a set of aggressive front and rear serrations, a black Ameriglo Protector rear sight and a green luminescent Ameriglo Protector Lumigreen night front sight for night use.

Even more importantly, the slide is longer than the frame and comes with a set of PowerPort venting ports on top and on both sides, consistent with a venting port cut on top of the 3.1" / 78,7 mm Armornite-finished, stainless steel barrel.

Smith & Wesson's PowerPort technology is very efficient in diverting expanding gases upwards to reduce felt recoil when firing, resulting in a considerable muzzle climb reduction and lighter recoil, making it easier and quicker to reacquire your target for accurate follow-up shots in defensive situations.

Standing at merely 14,85 centimeters (5.85 inch) in overall length, 10,16 centimeters (4 inch) in heigth and 2,23 centimeters (.88 inch) in width, the new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp pistol weighs in at barely 334 grams (11.8 oz) when empty and offers all the quality that comes from having been designed and engineered with support from Smith & Wesson's world-famous Performance Center.

Each sample comes issued from factory with two double-stack mags: a flush-fit 10-rounds magazine, offering a decent capacity without sacrificing concealability for printless and effortless carry; and an extended 12-rounds magazine with a longer black polymer floorplate, which extends the overall grip surface making the Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp pistol more comfortable to handle by bigger-handed shooters.

MSRP for the new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp pistol is set at $549.00 on the US market; USA è di 549 dollari; consult your local authorized Smith & Wesson distributor for availability and pricing outside of the United States.
